EF Hutton Sponsoring National Merit Scholarships for Debate & Speech
Up to 20 College Scholarships Awarded Annually for Champions at Annual Tournament
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio, Sept. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- EF Hutton America (symbol: HUTN), the leading brand in technology-enabled financial services, today announced that it will provide scholarships to the winners of the National Debate & Speech Tournament. The EF Hutton Scholarship Prize is the highest award for communication arts and is for communications what the Intel Scholarship Prize is for technology.
Organized by the National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA), a nationwide forensics association created in 1925, the tournament has become the world's largest annual high school academic contest. Additionally, EF Hutton is supporting the NSDA's mission with an annual contribution to help defray some of the NSDA's operating expenses.
"We are very excited to support the NSDA, its annual tournament and its mission to build the communication skills of high school students," said EF Hutton CEO Christopher Daniels. "Everyone knows that 'When EF Hutton Talks, People Listen,' so it's a natural fit for us to support an organization like the NSDA, which promotes communication arts and raises the skill level in this important field."
The partnership between EF Hutton and the NSDA begins Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, at a kickoff ceremony at EF Hutton's headquarters in Springfield, Ohio. That is also the day that EF Hutton sponsors a presidential candidate economic policy debate in Springfield between Clinton and Trump economic advisers. Debate participant Austan Goolsbee, Ms. Clinton's economic adviser, is a National Debate & Speech champion.

EF Hutton will award $5,000 scholarships to the 20 high school students who win their events at the National Debate & Speech Tournament held each June.
