BOSTON, June 13, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Edison Electric Institute today announced the promotion of Philip D. Moeller from Senior Vice President to Executive Vice President, Business Operations Group and Regulatory Affairs, effective July 1.
Moeller succeeds David K. Owens, who announced in January that he is retiring on June 30. Owens and Moeller have been working together, and with EEI President Tom Kuhn and EEI Executive Vice President of Public Policy and External Affairs Brian Wolff, to ensure a smooth transition.
"As we congratulate Phil on his expanded role, we also want to thank David for his tremendous leadership and his 36 years of distinguished and exemplary service to EEI and its member companies," said Tom Kuhn. "It has been my tremendous honor and privilege to work with David, and I wish him well in his retirement."
In his new position, Moeller will continue to serve as part of EEI's executive leadership team in EEI's Office of the President.
"Phil's knowledge, leadership, and considerable and diverse energy and public policy experience are critical for EEI and our member companies, particularly during this time of industry transformation," said Kuhn. "We look forward to Phil's ongoing leadership in his new position."
Moeller has served as Senior Vice President since February 2016. Prior to that, Moeller served two terms as a Commissioner with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
The announcement was made during EEI's annual convention in Boston.
