EEI President Tom Kuhn Lauds White House Swearing in of Commerce Secretary John Bryson
WASHINGTON, Nov. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Edison Electric Institute President Tom Kuhn today hailed the swearing in by U.S. Vice President Joe Biden of John Bryson as U.S. Secretary of Commerce, calling him "an astute leader with excellent credentials for his new job."
Mr. Bryson, whose nomination was easily confirmed by the U.S. Senate last month, once headed Rosemead, Calif.-based Edison International, one of EEI's member companies. He also served as EEI chairman in the late 1990s. His leadership and mastery of the utility business enabled him to lead the industry at a time of diverse opinions and divergent business strategies within the industry.
"When the President nominated Mr. Bryson for this post, he said the country needed a Commerce Secretary who knows American business," Kuhn said. "This is one of John Bryson's greatest strengths, and why his nomination has received such tremendous support from business and industry. U.S. job creation is goal number one, and Mr. Bryson's long career in both the business and public sectors give him the perfect background and credentials to spur job creation and economic growth."
"I'm very pleased both for John Bryson and for the U.S. business community, which will have a terrific partner at Commerce," Kuhn said.
