EECU Awards $30,000 in Academic Scholarships for Texas Students

FORT WORTH, Texas, April 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- At its annual shareholders meeting in March, GOBankingRates client EECU of Fort Worth, Texas, announced the winners of the 2015 Glenn Mandeville Memorial Scholarships. To date, the credit union has awarded more than $420,000 in scholarship funds to high school seniors in the credit union's membership area of Greater Tarrant County.

"It's a well-accepted fact that a college degree gives an individual a better shot at lower unemployment and higher pay, so we're thrilled that we have clients like EECU that help deserving students realize their academic dreams," said Casey Bond, GOBankingRates' managing editor.

Every year, six high school seniors receive academic scholarships of $5,000 each. Three are awarded to students planning to earn degrees in education; three are given to students pursuing any other field of their choice.
