Edward Gibson, Former Chief Cyber Security Advisor for Microsoft LTD in the U.K., Joins PricewaterhouseCoopers' U.S. Forensic Technology Solutions Practice
Gibson, previously an agent with the FBI, brings extensive cyber security expertise to complement PwC's Forensic Technology Solutions capabilities
NEW YORK and WASHINGTON, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) announced today that Edward Gibson, the former Chief Security Advisor for Microsoft LTD in the United Kingdom, has joined the firm as a director in PwC's U.S. Forensics Technology Solutions practice. Mr. Gibson will focus on helping organizations with issues involving investigating economic espionage, complex money laundering, cyber fraud schemes and intellectual property theft. He will be based in PwC's McLean, VA (Tysons Corner) office and will service a wide range of clients in matters of security breach investigation and overall risk management strategies.
While serving as Microsoft's Chief Cyber Security Advisor in the U.K., Mr. Gibson was the chief spokesperson and point of contact for Microsoft Ltd U.K. on all matters of cyber security and IT infrastructure risk management for global businesses based in the U.K., government, law enforcement and security services, press and consumers.
From 1985 through 2000, Mr. Gibson served as a Special Agent (SA) in the FBI, where he specialized in complex investigations involving money laundering, white collar fraud, asset identification and forfeiture, economic espionage, public corruption, and intellectual property theft. While assigned to FBI Headquarters, Mr. Gibson developed and was lead instructor of an 'operational' money laundering and asset forfeiture training program for all SAs and Executive Management. From February, 2000 through June, 2005, Mr. Gibson was assigned to the American Embassy in London as an FBI Assistant Legal Attache primarily responsible for all FBI cyber / Internet investigations in the U.K. and Ireland.
Prior to the FBI, Ed was a lawyer for a multi-national corporation based in Michigan. He is also a qualified Solicitor in England and Wales, and was a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia and District of Columbia.

Mr. Gibson is a frequent speaker and lecturer on the topic of cyber crime and IT risk management across the globe. He has published works on how to mitigate the risk of these attacks which can include financial loss, interruption of business, theft of intellectual property, data theft, identity theft or other deceptions caused by unauthorized and unwelcome access to computer systems. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and is a Fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS).
Mr. Gibson graduated from Grand Valley University with a degree in Legal Administration and Criminal Justice. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He also received a Graduate Certificate in Federal Procurement Management from American University and a diploma in Computing from the Kellogg College at Oxford University.
