Educators to March Friday in Downtown Raleigh
RALEIGH, N.C., March 17, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Leaders and members of NCAE will march Friday in downtown Raleigh at 12:15 p.m. as part of the 41st Annual State Convention of the North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE), held at the Raleigh Civic and Convention Center on March 18-19.
"With 1,000 delegates from across the state who represent every school district in North Carolina, we didn't want to just sit in a room and talk," said NCAE President Sheri Strickland. "Our delegates to last year's convention voted to have a rally activity on this date. Educators know that decisions are being made by elected leaders in Raleigh that affect every school, every student and every educator. This show of action is a call to action for members of the General Assembly to fund schools first."
The activity will begin at noon inside the Convention Center on the 2nd floor in Ballroom BC with a pep rally featuring the following NCAE leaders: Deb Kelly, Moore County; Teicher Patterson, Halifax County; Wanda Kindell, Cumberland County; and Tripp Jeffers, Forsyth County.
NCAE President Sheri Strickland and NCAE Vice President Rodney Ellis will lead delegates to the march immediately following the pep rally.
