Educators Named to FirstEnergy Educational Advisory Council
Group Works to Match Company Support with Schools and Educational Programs
AKRON, Ohio, June 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE) has appointed 13 educators from Ohio and western Pennsylvania to serve two-year terms on the company's Educational Advisory Council.
The new council members are:
- Jennifer Blankenship, instructional specialist at Roswell Kent Middle School in Akron, Ohio
- Abbey Bolton, principal, Davey Elementary School, Kent, Ohio
- Cherie Conrad, 9th grade environmental science teacher at Western Beaver High School in Industry, Pennsylvania
- Jeannette Dumot, the district science coach for the Parma City Schools in Parma, Ohio
- Sarah Eppler, 1st grade teacher at Giles-Sweet Elementary School in Fairview Park, Ohio
- Lora Finn, 4th grade math, science and reading teacher at Amherst Elementary School in Amherst, Ohio
- Dale Hluch, fiscal agent and treasurer at the Bio-Med Science Academy STEM School in Rootstown, Ohio
- Larry Johnson, principal of the National Inventors Hall of Fame STEM School in Akron, Ohio
- Raymond Douglas Jones, 3rd grade mathematics teacher at Louisville Elementary School in Louisville, Ohio
- Jessie Kubuske, biology teacher at Lake High School in Millbury, Ohio
- Danny Savage, advanced chemistry teacher at Coventry High School in Springfield Township, Ohio
- Casey Smith, 1st grade teacher at Hilton Elementary School in Brecksville, Ohio
- Joan Stoner, 5th grade science teacher at C.E. Budd Elementary School in Loudonville, Ohio
The council, which consists of educators and school administrators, advises FirstEnergy on educational resources, current curriculum guidelines and developments in K – 12 education and makes recommendations on how best to assist schools in meeting their educational goals and community service initiatives. Council members also review and evaluate applications for FirstEnergy's Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Classroom Grants and make funding recommendations.
