WASHINGTON, Nov. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Educating a skilled and adapt­able workforce is the key to American competitiveness in a global economy. Yet by many measures, America is missing the mark.

While the United States is home to some of the most prestigious universities in the world, barely half of students who start a bachelor's program complete their degree in six years, and only 30 percent of community college students do so in three. With unemployment rates twice as high for Americans without a post-high school degree, this has troubling implications for America's future.

Join National Journal as it explores what federal policy­makers, state officials, and colleges and universities can do to guarantee students have the education and skills they need to succeed in a global economy.
