SIIA is the principal association for the software and digital content industries. The SIIA Content Division represents firms that publish, aggregate, and distribute digital content and create and provide technologies and platforms for content delivery and distribution.
Barber currently helms Environmental Data Resources, a company that provides information on businesses, properties, and buildings—along with platforms to analyze and report that data—to professionals in the financial, environmental, real estate, corporate, government, and legal sectors, and to other information companies. As CEO, he has led major initiatives to develop proprietary property records and web-based workflow applications aimed at improving the end user experience. He also led the team that created commonground, the multiple award-winning global social network for professionals involved in property due diligence and risk assessments. (Just one year after its 2008 launch, Forrester Research named commonground the best business-to-business supporting community for "explosive success and personal support.")
In addition to his duties at EDR, Barber serves as a non-executive director of BuildFax, the nation's leading provider of property-specific building permit and contractor information.
"I appreciate the opportunity to help SIIA advance the business priorities of the industry," said Barber. "I'm eager to put the skills I've learned while helming a longstanding and highly successful business-to-business information company to work for the association's Content Division."
SIIA Content Division Vice President Ed Keating said, "Rob brings a valuable dual perspective to the board because his company publishes, aggregates and distributes data, and produces value-added workflow software. As such, he will bring an important industry perspective to board discussions. I'm pleased to have him on the board."
