Edison Nation Medical and Leading Respiratory Care Organization AARC Team Up To Promote Innovation in Aerosol Therapy
The Organizations Encourage Respiratory Care Therapists to Come Forward with New Ideas for Improving Patient Care
CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Premier healthcare innovation marketplace, Edison Nation Medical, and the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC), today announce a global search to uncover innovations for improving aerosol therapy for patients with respiratory disorders. Two of the most common respiratory conditions, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), affect 1 in 12 people and an estimated 15 million respectively in the United States alone and these rates are rising.
Inhaled therapy has been routinely employed for over half a century in ambulatory patients with respiratory disorders but aerosol therapy in ventilator-dependent patients is complex. The effectiveness of aerosol therapy depends on several factors such as the aerosol device, drug, ventilator parameters, and circuit. As the number of chronic lung patients continues to grow, there is an increased need for innovative inhaled therapy treatments that are higher quality, less expensive, and easier for patients to use.
"Inhaled therapies are central to the treatment of a number of critical respiratory conditions which affect many millions of people in this country alone," said Robert Grajewski, president of Edison Nation Medical. "AARC advocates on behalf of patients as well as respiratory care therapists and they're committed to uncovering innovations that improve patient compliance and patient outcomes. We are thrilled to extend our partnership in this new direction to uncover innovations that make a difference for chronic lung patients and their families."
AARC's Executive Director Thomas Kallstrom MBA, RRT FAARC shared, "The AARC is committed to supporting its members by providing them with unique opportunities to share their creative and innovative ideas for consideration to be patented. We understand that respiratory professionals intimately understand the technology, patients' barriers and challenges faced each day in administering aerosol treatments, and that its important to further explore their ideas and concepts for possible advancements in aerosol therapy and patient care. This AARC member offering is a benefit that requires a minimal investment of $25. We want to encourage our members to submit their ideas to Edison Nation Medical for evaluation, and enhance their membership and contribution to the medical profession."

A team of intellectual property, medical, technical and business development experts shepherd the most promising ideas through the myriad of barriers that often derail great inventions from coming to life at no cost to the inventor.
