EDC has new Peruvian representative to help Canadian companies sell in the market
OTTAWA, May 14, 2015 /CNW/ - Export Development Canada (EDC), the leading provider of financing for Canadian companies with business outside of Canada, today introduced Rafael Castillo as its new representative in Peru.
Mr. Castillo will be working to develop new opportunities for Canadian companies selling into, or operating in Peru. He brings with him considerable international finance experience, having worked in the Swiss financial sector for six years. He also gained a thorough understanding of broader Latin American socio-economics while working as an advisor for the Inter-American Development Bank from 2011-2014.
"Peru is a country on the rise with signs of growth appearing everywhere, from mega infrastructure projects to expansive initiatives in the mining and agriculture sectors," said Mr. Castillo. "We think that Canadian capabilities match up very well with Peru's development needs, so an important part of my job will be to connect Canadian suppliers with those opportunities."
EDC has identified key sectors for Canadian companies in Peru as infrastructure, power (including renewable energy), mining, and oil and gas.
Peru was ranked second in South America on the World Bank's "ease of doing business index" last year. EDC considers it to be a market of opportunity for Canadian companies because of its political stability and free trade agreement with Canada. It is also a strategic market for Canada, as outlined in the Government's Global Market Action Plan.
"If your company is looking to grow your business in Peru, please give us a call; we have the tools to help you do it," added Castillo.
