Ed-tech Startups Face Silicon Valley Educators and Business Leaders in 'Shark Tank' Type Competition To Be Televised on Feb. 25th
Comcast Hometown Network (Channel 104) to Air iHub Pitch Games
LIVERMORE, Calif., Feb. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast Hometown Network (Channel 104), Comcast's regional cable network covering Northern and Central California, today announced that it will air the second round of the iHub Pitch Games, a competition that gives edtech startups a chance to test innovative software products in the classroom, on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m.
The iHub Pitch Games, sponsored by Comcast, the Silicon Valley Education Foundation (SVEF) and NewSchools Venture Fund, took place during Comcast's Youth Tech Summit last September, and were modeled after the popular TV show "Shark Tank." During the games, startup entrepreneurs pitched their e-learning products to a prestigious panel of Silicon Valley educators and business leaders. Seven entrepreneurs – including BrightLoop, CodeMonkey, MathChat, TeachMe, Mathspace, Mosa Mack Science, and Tuva Labs – were selected to take their e-learning programs and games into Silicon Valley schools for testing with students.
"The iHub Pitch Games provide a unique opportunity to bring entrepreneurs, educators and technology companies together to provide our students – the leaders of tomorrow – with the latest technology to help increase achievement and engagement," said Jeff Giles, General Manager of Comcast Hometown Network. "At Comcast, we're committed to education and are proud to put a spotlight on these edtech solutions and companies on Comcast Hometown Network."
Comcast Hometown Network, Channel 104, continues to be one of the top destinations for local news, special events, entertainment and sports coverage. Viewers can also watch the second iHub Games online at www.comcasthometownnetwork.com or through direct streaming at http://www.chnlivestreaming.tv/.
