Ed Korry Selected as New President of the Society of Wine Educators
WASHINGTON, June 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Society of Wine Educators is pleased to announce the appointment of Edward Korry, MA, CHE, CSS, CWE, as the new President of the Society, as of June 1, 2014.
Professor Korry is the Chair of the Beverage and Dining Service Department at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI. With industry experience, he began to work at JWU as the Food & Beverage Director for several of the University's practicum properties. He joined the faculty in 1983, led the creation of its beverage programs and currently teaches wine courses.
Educated at the University of Chicago, Professor Korry earned the Certified Specialist of Spirits (CSS) and Certified Wine Educator (CWE) through SWE, and is also a Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE). He has served on the Board of Directors of SWE for 8 years, contributing to the creation and development of the Beverage Specialist Program.
Professor Korry's many other certifications and memberships include the executive committee of the US Bartenders' Guild Master Accreditation Program; Maitre de Table Restaurateur and Echanson Provincial of La Chaine des Rotisseurs; certified Bordeaux Wine Educator; and Formador Homologado del Vino de Jerez.
