ENGLEWOOD, Colo., March 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Ed Huguez was promoted to the newly created position of President of Affiliate Distribution for Starz Entertainment, announced Chris Albrecht, chief executive officer for Starz, LLC. Huguez was most recently executive vice president of affiliate sales and marketing, a position he has held since joining the company in 2004.

Reporting to Glenn Curtis, president and chief financial officer for Starz, LLC, Huguez oversees all sales and revenue generation efforts for distributors of Starz Entertainment subscription premium content, including multichannel video and digital/Internet providers. Starz Digital Media, the digital and on-demand licensing arm of, also will continue to report into Huguez.

Huguez joined Starz Entertainment in 2004, responsible for all aspects of sales, affiliate relations and marketing with traditional multichannel video and other content distributors. Huguez came to Starz from Midstream Technologies Inc., where he served for three years as president, CEO and chairman, providing interactive and video-on-demand technology to cable television companies.
From 1992 to 1998, Huguez was VP/GM for DIRECTV's new media and interactive programming and platforms group, and, prior to that, vice president, programming acquisitions. He was part of the executive team that launched DIRECTV in 1994.
Huguez began his career in the multichannel industry working for ESPN in affiliate sales from 1987 to 1992. He was COO at INTERVU, a pioneer in video streaming on the Internet for such companies as CNN. In 2000, INTERVU was acquired by Akamai Technologies, Inc., where Huguez served subsequently as a senior vice president.
Huguez received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Arizona State University and earned his MBA from the John E. Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. He and his wife, Betsy, have two children.
