The awards were presented this week in conjunction with HxGN LIVE, the annual user conference for Intergraph's Process, Power & Marine division and the Hexagon family of brands' other businesses.

The Golden Valve Awards competition annually recognizes the most innovative and well-executed uses of software supported by Intergraph Process, Power & Marine. The competition is open to all SmartPlant® Enterprise and SmartMarine® Enterprise engineering design software users and the subject matter must relate to the process, power, offshore or shipbuilding industries.
Ecovix Construcoes Oceanicas SA of Rio de Janeiro was presented "Best of Show" in the 13th annual Golden Valve Awards competition for the company's intricately detailed view of marine structure created using SmartMarine 3D and SmartPlant Review to showcase a new form of angles and images to view the engineering project. Ecovix's winning entry was submitted by Renato Lopes from its 3D Automation Group in the Visually Complex category. Ecovix Construcoes Oceanicas SA was created in 2010 as a subsidiary of Engevix Engenharia S/A to run for Brazilian energy company Petrobras two contracts to build eight hulls of floating, production, storage and offloading vessels (FPSOs).

The Platinum Pipe Awards competition annually recognizes the most innovative automation ideas and implementations for SmartPlant 3D and SmartMarine 3D (collectively known as Smart 3D), or SmartPlant P&ID, SmartPlant Electrical and SmartPlant Instrumentation (known as SmartPlant Engineering & Schematics).
Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries Ltd. and Brazil's Odebrecht Engenharia de Projetos earned first-place awards in the fourth annual Platinum Pipe Awards competition in the 3D and Engineering & Schematics categories, respectively.
Samsung Heavy Industries, a SmartMarine 3D user since 2004, claimed first place for the fourth consecutive year in the 3D Design category. Its winning entry was submitted by SoonJe Cho.
Second place in 3D Design was submitted by Tetsuya Miwa of Japan's Toyo Engineering Corp., while submissions by Caspar Arevad of Ramboll Oil & Gas (Denmark) and Juan Garcia Rendon of Empresarios Agrupados (Spain) tied for third.
Sao Paulo-based Odebrecht Engenharia de Projetos claimed first place in the Engineering & Schematics category for an entry submitted by Andre Eduardo Sandrini.
Second place in Engineering & Schematics was submitted by Predrag Vasic of Fluor Canada Ltd., while third place was awarded to the IT Department of Shengli Engineering & Consulting Co., Ltd. (China).

This year's Golden Valve and Platinum Pipe competitions attracted a record total number of entries.
