EcoPower® Engine Oil is Selected by the Nestle USA Private Fleet
RICHARDSON, Texas, July 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Safety-Kleen announced today that Nestle USA has switched to EcoPower® Engine Oil in its private fleet of Class 8 tractors. The move will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect the environment, while it protects engines.
More than 1.4 billion gallons of engine oil are generated every year in the U.S. Unfortunately, a majority of that volume is burned for one-time energy use. Safety-Kleen collects more than 200 million gallons of used oil a year and is the leader in collecting and re-refining reclaimed oil to make high quality lubricants, such as EcoPower Engine Oil that protects engines and protects the environment.
When engine oil is re-refined, it becomes a more sustainable solution. For every 100 million gallons of greener re-refined engine oil used, it avoids more than 650 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions -- equal to the carbon sequestered by growing more than 19 million trees for 10 years in an urban environment. Plus, it conserves non-renewable resources and reduces dependence on foreign oil.
"EcoPower makes solid environmental and business sense," said Curt Knapp, executive vice president - marketing and oil re-refining sales, Safety-Kleen. "It takes 42 gallons of crude oil to make the same amount of high-quality motor oil as obtained from recycling one gallon of used motor oil. And EcoPower doesn't just conserve resources; it keeps used motor oil out of our land and ground water. Plus, it meets or exceeds manufacturers' warranty standards."
Companies invest heavily in the engines that drive their fleets. In independent 500,000 and 1,000,000-mile studies using real-world fleet conditions, EcoPower engine oil was proven to meet or beat the engine protection performance of other leading heavy-duty diesel engine oils made from virgin crude. Learn more about the results.
"Using EcoPower reduces greenhouse gas emissions and helps to protect the environment," said Mike Desso, director corporate environment and safety, Nestle USA. "Switching to EcoPower for our private fleet is one example of how we are managing our business in a way that is supportive of the environment."
EcoPower motor oil meets or exceeds all applicable specifications set by the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Plus, it is approved by and conforms to all major OEM recommendations for engine oil. It is available for gasoline engines in Synthetic Blend 5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30, dexos1™-licensed 5W-30, High Mileage 5W-20 and 5W-30. And for diesel and natural gas engines, it's available in 15W-40 CJ-4/SM, 10W-30 CJ-4/SN and NGP 15W-40.
