Eco Building Products Raising A New Flag -- Setting Up Key Production Facility In Tacoma, Washington
ECOB's Historical Facility in the Port of Tacoma to be Operated by Three Former Active Duty Marines
VISTA, Calif., April 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Eco Building Products, Inc., (PINK: ECOB) is pleased to announce the opening of the Company's newest and largest production facility in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, strategically situated in the Port of Tacoma. Manufacturing operations are tentatively scheduled to commence mid-April in preparation for the busy Spring Run supported by ECOB's expanding customer base in the Northeast and Pacific Northwest regions of the US. This historical port facility originally established in the early 1940s to support naval shipbuilding operations now welcomes Eco Building Products, Inc., and the facilities Management and Operations Team comprised of three former United States Marines. http://portoftacoma.com/about/history
During the month of March, ECOB focused on new facility planning coupled with retooling previous production operations and machinery that enabled the Company to arrive at this momentous milestone of crossing over into support of the high-volume, wholesale market Lumber Business. This new facility gives the Company an enhanced ability to produce a higher volume of finished goods for wholesale customers in both the PNW and NE via two coating lines with future plans to install an automated line capable of producing ten times the output over current production machinery.
A big part of retooling included a closer look at the use of manpower and how last fall the company headed into the holidays by operating three shifts to try and keep up with all the orders. Part of that problem was the direct sales to lumber yards. On any given day, multiple-house pack orders showed up for treatment while production was primarily focused on supporting big box orders. We knew we had to find a wholesale partner that was willing to build an inventory of those common SKU's that end up in every building so that Eco wasn't running all shifts and productions lines for "just-in-time" service. This Tacoma facility can now produce finished goods that can be loaded on rail cars and sent to the NE so our facility in NJ can support those odd sizes and engineered wood products. Additionally and as a result of the facility being situated in one of the top ports in N. America and an international gateway to business, the Company has unhindered access to rail service and the Port's international container terminals, allowing the Company to better service domestic customers, along with new export service to Hawaii, with high hopes of one day beyond.
Eco Building Products, Inc. President & CEO, Steve Conboy stated that "Crossing this bridge into the supply change will allow Eco to focus on what we do best – producing what we are confident to be the best lumber in the world, and to equip lumber wholesalers with the innate ability to sell our products to lumberyards and lumber brokers. These are exciting times for Eco as engineering is complete to automate the Company's production facilities and we hope to soon announce our new Board Members that will assist in directing Eco the rest of the way into the national supply chain."
Next Friday, April 10th, Eco's President and Chief Executive Officer will be speaking as an honored guest at the United Nations Info Poverty Conference http://www.infopoverty.net. The theme of this year's conference has embraced technologies that have the innovative ability to help stomp out world poverty. As such, Eco remains focused on trying to increase export business that would ultimately enable emerging markets to build with US grown lumber, all of which can be protected by Eco Red Shield™ lumber coatings, providing unparalleled, eco-friendly protection against mold, termites, wood-rot decay and fire.
