ECMC moves free college access center to Portland
The College Place moves to the Sylvania Campus of Portland Community College
OAKDALE, Minn., Nov. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Educational Credit Management Corporation (ECMC) announced today The College Place-Oregon has moved from Bend to Portland. Now located on the Sylvania Campus of Portland Community College, The College Place helps students of all ages pursue opportunities for education beyond high school by providing free information, assistance and encouragement through in-person, telephone and online support. The College Place also offers individual assistance completing applications for admission, financial aid and scholarships.
The College Place will be managed by Jennifer Satalino. Satalino has been active in the college access and success movement both in Oregon and nationally. She has served as both a director of admissions and of financial aid, is a founding member of the Oregon College Access Network, and has also worked to increase access to "Dual Credit" opportunities for low-income and first-generation students. For eight years, Satalino ran a nonprofit college access center in Northeast Portland, and has stayed connected with many of her high school, nonprofit and higher education peers. She has particular expertise in Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion and assisting undocumented students as they pursue postsecondary education. Her passion is ensuring equitable educational opportunities exist for all students.

Supporting Oregon
In addition to The College Place, ECMC provides other student success initiatives to help Oregon students and their families. The ECMC Scholars Program mentors underperforming students to help them graduate and go on to higher education. ECMC also distributes college access and success curricula to support educators and community organizations in reaching underserved populations. Additionally, ECMC sponsors College Nights at multiple sites across Oregon; prints and distributes 80,000 copies of Opportunities: Preparing for college guide and workbook for Oregon; and provides the Financial Awareness Basics (FAB) program as well as weekly webinars for financial aid administrators and other campus staff.
