ECMC helps Virginia students navigate college planning with free events and resources
ST. PAUL, Minn., Oct. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ECMC is pleased to announce timely resources for those planning for college. Whether planning to attend a trade school or pursue a two- or four-year degree, these resources are available at no cost.
"It is more important than ever for people to make informed decisions about their pursuit of higher education. Our college planning and financial literacy resources provide students with tools to position them for success," said Janice Hines, ECMC President and CEO.
2012-2013 Opportunities: Preparing for college guide and workbook. This is the 12th annual release of this free college planning resource that equips students with tools to guide their pursuit of postsecondary education. Opportunities books are available in English and Spanish and can be ordered by guidance counselors, community organizations and colleges at www.ecmc.org/opportunities.
College Nights. For the sixth consecutive year, ECMC-sponsored College Nights will be held at various locations throughout Virginia during the week of November 12-15. This is a free event for students and their families aimed at demystifying the college planning process. Scholarship drawings will be held at each of these events. Social media. To help students with the ever-important money management aspect of college planning, ECMC has recently launched Facebook and Twitter sites. These sites provide money management tips and resources—a critical component as students plan for college and life.
