ECMC Group Board Elects John DePodesta as New Chairman

OAKDALE, Minn., Jan. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ECMC Group, a nonprofit corporation that provides services to students and schools in support of higher education and funds an educational foundation, announced the naming of John DePodesta as the new chairman of the board.

After nearly 20 years of service as ECMC Group's first chairman, Robert A. Stein has stepped down as chairman, but will continue to serve as an emeritus director. Among many other career accomplishments, Stein has served as the dean of the University of Minnesota Law School, executive director and chief operating officer of the American Bar Association, and continues to teach a popular constitutional law course at the University.

DePodesta has served on the board with Stein since the establishment of the company in 1994 and is also the chair of the governance and compensation committee. As an entrepreneur, lawyer, business executive and fiduciary, DePodesta's career has spanned a variety of industries, including telecommunications, transportation, healthcare and education. Throughout his career, he has successfully created, grown and restructured several enterprises, and has served on boards and in governance roles in both the public and private sectors. He is a graduate of Harvard College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
