ECMC Foundation Funds Leadership Development Program at the Association for Career and Technical Education
Grant supports postsecondary professional development of current and aspiring leaders in CTE
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- ECMC Foundation, a national philanthropic organization working to improve postsecondary educational outcomes, announced that it has provided funding to launch the Postsecondary Leadership Success Program (PLSP) at the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE).
The grant is part of the Foundation's CTE Leadership Collaborative—an initiative focused on bringing together diverse perspectives and equipping postsecondary career and technical education (CTE) leaders with the tools, resources and skills needed to advance the field.
"ACTE has played an integral role in developing a pipeline of future leaders in CTE, and we appreciate the opportunity to partner with them on this important endeavor," said Peter Taylor, president, ECMC Foundation. "Together, we hope to positively impact leadership within this field, as well as student success."
The Postsecondary Leadership Success Program (PLSP) at ACTE—Sponsored by ECMC Foundation will support current and aspiring leaders in CTE. The more than $1 million grant-funded program will provide professional and career growth opportunities to the next generation of leaders at nonprofits and postsecondary institutions offering CTE programs.
ACTE will engage two successive cohorts of 20 CTE postsecondary professionals in leadership development activities like creating a personal development plan, attending virtual and in-person professional development sessions, sharing best practices with the field and engaging with a mentor. The goal of the program is to help ECMC Foundation Fellows develop and refine their skills in organizational leadership and management; build critical skills in communication, collaboration, networking, problem solving and use of time/resources; and hone their ability to facilitate institutional change. Applications will be made available in January 2019.
"ACTE is grateful for and honored by the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with the ECMC Foundation," said ACTE Executive Director LeAnn Wilson. "High-quality CTE is critical to American competitiveness in today's global economy, and by investing in the success of postsecondary CTE leaders, ECMC Foundation is taking a big step forward in the effort to advance education that prepares learners for workforce success."
The ECMC Foundation CTE Leadership Collaborative employs a proactive grantmaking approach, offering competitive funding opportunities to identify solutions that address specific challenges faced by postsecondary CTE. Grantees and sub-grantees commit to sharing their research, experience and best practices with the field in an effort to marry research and practice.
