ECMC expands availability of free college planning resources for Connecticut students
OAKDALE, Minn., Oct. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ECMC is pleased to provide free resources for those planning to attend college, whether a trade school, a community college or a four-year university.
"Planning for college can be a daunting process. In our efforts to fulfill our mission of helping students succeed, ECMC is pleased to be able to provide valuable tools to help simplify the process," said Paula Craw, director of outreach and financial literacy. "I encourage students and their families as well as school counselors, teachers, administrators and community organizations to take advantage of these free resources."
2014-2015 Opportunities: Preparing for college guide and workbook. This is the fifth annual release of this free college planning publication that provides students and families with important information and tools to guide their pursuit of postsecondary education. Opportunities books are available in English and Spanish and can be ordered by guidance counselors, community organizations and colleges at www.ecmc.org/opportunities.
College Nights. For the second year, ECMC-sponsored College Nights will be held at various locations throughout Connecticut from October 15—November 15. This is a free event for students and their families designed to help simplify the college planning process. Scholarship drawings will be held at each of these events. College Abacus. Named one of the "Best New Money Ideas" for 2014 by CNNMoney, College Abacus is a one-stop search site that allows students to compare the net price of up to three colleges at one time. The net price is the cost of school after grants and scholarships are subtracted from the total cost of education. This innovative tool, acquired by ECMC this summer, is available to all consumers at no charge and can be found at www.collegeabacus.org.
