Echelon and Aditel Partner to Expand LonWorks Dealer Network Throughout Latin America
New Distributor Taps Growing Building Automation Market and New Government Energy Efficiency Programs to Upgrade Street Lighting with Multi-Vendor Support
SAN JOSE, Calif., July 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Echelon Corporation (NASDAQ: ELON), the world's leading control networking platform provider, today announced that it is expanding its presence in Latin America through a new partnership with Aditel Sistemas, a service provider and reseller of control networking products. Aditel has successfully worked with Echelon's LonWorks® products in Europe and has recently opened offices in Mexico and Colombia to take advantage of the fast-growing building automation and street lighting markets in Latin America, which are expected to grow 20 percent year over year, which is two to three times faster than Western European or North America market growth rates (per IMS Research).
"Our distribution agreement with Echelon will allow us to take full advantage of our already strong presence in the building automation industry in several countries in Latin America," said Victor Canete, CEO of Aditel Sistemas. "With Echelon's products, we can offer our building automation OEMs and integrators the flexibility of multi-vendor interoperability and minimum implementation risk. Echelon's LonWorks transceivers like the FT 5000 and PL 3100 will enable our OEM customers to quickly add LonWorks interfaces to their devices, while Echelon's Smart Server gateway that integrates LonWorks networks and devices to other networks such as BACnet and Modbus, will allow our OEMs and system integrator customers to participate in virtually all building automation projects."
"Aditel's offices in Latin America will also increase our exposure to street lighting projects in the region," said Anders Axelsson, senior vice president sales and marketing, Commercial and Internet of Things, at Echelon. "Initiatives such as Mexico's National Project for Streetlight Energy Efficiency are providing funding to municipalities to update their streetlights with the energy savings being used to pay back their investments. Our CPD 3000 lighting controller and Smart Server based segment controller are the most proven and cost effective solution for municipalities and cities looking to control the costs of highway and street lighting."
