BOSTON, Jan. 24, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Today ECG Management Consultants announced that Jim Brown and Don Pauley have joined the firm's Academic Healthcare Division. The two have collaborated together to develop and enhance graduate medical education (GME) programs throughout the US. Their addition to ECG's academic practice increases leadership capacity and significantly expands the firm's GME service offerings.
"ECG has maintained an academic healthcare practice since its founding more than 45 years ago" said ECG principal and practice leader Chris Collins. "AMCs face highly complex issues that cannot be addressed by generalists—they demand specialized business expertise across their three mission areas of medical education, research, and patient care. Jim and Don bring their specialized, turnkey expertise in GME that we and our clients are looking for."
Joining ECG as a principal, Jim Brown has 27 years of experience in the healthcare industry. He previously served as a partner with Deloitte, leaving in 2013 to serve as president of Germane Solutions. His work focuses on revenue cycle, strategy, and operations, as well as assisting clients with the development and implementation of new GME programs. "Partnering with clients to improve operational and financial performance and develop new teaching programs gives me professional fulfillment," said Brown. "It reminds me that our work makes a difference in the lives of others in this most important industry." Brown has developed long-term relationships with preeminent academic organizations, and he brings his wealth of experience and subject matter expertise to his new leadership role.
Don Pauley also joins the GME team and brings a blend of provider-side and consulting experience to the firm in his role as associate principal. He has a reputation for devising practical solutions and working side by side with his clients to ensure successful implementation from start to finish. "The work we do has tremendous purpose," he said. "Starting and developing new GME programs, along with performance improvement efforts, which aid existing GME programs, is helping cultivate the future of patient care delivery at the physician level for decades to come." Previously a department administrator and a VP of clinical operations, Pauley's clinical experience has informed his consulting work, most recently at Germane Solutions where he spent the past several years focused on new teaching hospital development.
Both Brown and Pauley exemplify ECG's core values of providing high-quality and highly specialized services, as well as a focus on the client. "I am excited about the depth of GME expertise and years of experience in the academic healthcare space that both Jim and Don bring to ECG, and I am confident that they will enable ECG to deliver even more creative and enduring solutions to its clients." said Leah Gassett, Principal.
