ECC Receives Top Occupational Safety and Health Administration Designation
BURLINGAME, Calif., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- ECC was recently honored with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star-level designation for Mobile Workforce in the San Antonio Designated Geographic Area. This is the fourth VPP Star recognition for ECC.
This prestigious honor is given to projects with enhanced safety and health management systems resulting in exceptional health and safety performance. At the time of OSHA's site assessment, ECC's three-year recordable incident rate was 57 percent better than the national average for Nonresidential/Building Construction, and 56 percent better than the national average for days away or restricted work cases.
In an award notification letter to ECC, OSHA wrote, "Your qualification for OSHA's premiere recognition program is a testament to the efforts you and your workers have made to develop and implement a VPP-quality safety and health management system. You have joined an elite group of organizations that provide exemplary occupational safety and health protection and serve as models for others."
Bill Upton, ECC's Regional Program Manager, comments, "Employee safety is a core value at ECC. We model that value every day for the safety of our team and the surrounding communities of San Antonio. Our subcontractors, along with ECC employees, are actively involved in reducing hazards and preventing accidents."
OSHA created the VPP in 1982 to recognize and partner with companies committed to effective employee protection beyond usual OSHA standards, and those that demonstrate leadership excellence in occupational safety and health. VPP participants develop and implement systems to effectively identify, evaluate, prevent, and control occupational hazards to avoid employee injuries and illnesses.
