ECC Named Top Workplace in the Bay Area by the San Jose Mercury News
BURLINGAME, Calif., July 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second consecutive year, the San Jose Mercury News named ECC a 2012 Top Workplace in the Bay Area.
ECC ranked 26th in the small companies category with 76 employees in its Bay Area-based corporate headquarters. The award recognizes organizations where employees feel they have a voice, are treated with respect, and recognized for their contributions. To be eligible for the award, employees voluntarily completed a 24-question survey, commenting on questions based on six main topics, including direction, execution, career, conditions, managers, and pay and benefits.
"'A Great Place to Work' is one of three vision statements that guide our organization," commented Paul Sabharwal, ECC Chairman of the Board. "This recognition is especially significant because it was decided upon based on direct feedback from our family of employee owners."
At ECC, employees benefit from a robust wellness program, including a personal health coach, wellness activity incentives, and a 24-hour nurseline. Other perks include a generous health package, an employee stock ownership plan, commuter tax savings program, company-match charitable giving program, education assistance, personal leadership development training, and other financial, career development, and work-life balance benefits.
Anonymous employee comments included that they felt ECC was a best workplace because they were "making a contribution to the US Government, military, and families." Others replied that, "our values and mission statement are fully embraced."
Mr. Sabharwal continued, "Every day, I'm inspired by the dedication, innovation, and overarching camaraderie and compassion demonstrated by our employees. They demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit that is guided by values of friendship, people, safety, service, and prosperity. I'm humbled by their unwavering positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile for each other. ECC is truly a great place to work, which will only continue to get better."
Established in 1985, ECC is an employee-owned company that provides a complete range of services to support its clients' missions, including design-build, construction, engineering and design management, environmental remediation, energy, and military munitions response. ECC serves the U.S. Departments of Defense, Energy, and State, as well as the U.S. Agency for International Development, Asian Development Bank, and other international agencies.
