BURLINGAME, Calif., July 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- For the third consecutive year, ECC was named a Top Workplace in the Bay Area in the San Jose Mercury News. ECC ranked 24th in the small companies category with 71 employees in its Bay Area-based corporate headquarters.
To be eligible for the award, ECC's employee-owners voluntarily completed a survey conducted by WorkplaceDynamics that measures engagement, satisfaction, and organizational fundamentals and health.
This ranking comes two months after ECC's Hawaii office received second place during the 2013 Best Places to Work in Hawaii, as well as the Editor's Choice Award for the Healthiest Employers by Hawaii Business Magazine.
"Both rankings were determined using feedback from our employee-owners, which make the designations especially meaningful," says Glenn Sweatt, ECC Vice President of Contracts & Compliance. "ECC is constantly striving to be 'A Great Place to Work,' which is one of the guiding principles of our vision statement. These rankings tell us we're on the right path to creating a happy, fulfilling, and healthy work environment."
At ECC, employees benefit from a robust wellness program, including a personal health coach, wellness activity incentives, and a 24-hour nurseline. Other perks include generous health packages, an employee stock ownership plan, commuter tax savings program, company-match charitable giving program, education assistance, personal leadership development training, and other financial, career development, and work-life balance benefits.
Employees commented that they feel like they're "making a difference" and that work is "meaningful." Others reported loving their jobs because "of the empowerment that my managers give me," and they are "allowed to make mistakes and can bring the lessons learned to the next challenge." Many comments centered around co-workers, where employees reported feeling "impressed how everyone here is willing to help you, even if they are in another department."
Established in 1985, ECC is an employee-owned company that provides a complete range of services to support its clients' missions, including design-build, construction, engineering and design management, environmental remediation, energy, and munitions response. ECC serves the U.S. Departments of Defense, Energy, and State, as well as the U.S. Agency for International Development, Asian Development Bank, and other international agencies.
