ECC Awarded the Small Business Administration Dwight D. Eisenhower Award for Excellence
BURLINGAME, Calif., May 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ECC was awarded the prestigious Dwight D. Eisenhower Award for Excellence by the Small Business Administration (SBA) in the Service category during the SBA's National Small Business Week in Washington, D.C. This is the second time ECC has received the award, the first coming in 2008.
The Eisenhower Award honors large Federal contractors that exemplify outstanding small business utilization. As a recipient of the award, ECC demonstrated a strong commitment to small businesses through topics including overall small business utilization; demonstrated management support; small business liaison effectiveness; small business outreach efforts, assistance, mentorship, and opportunity for participation; and small business awards. Since 2007, ECC has subcontracted more than $500 million to small businesses, and in 2011, surpassed the Government-established 31.7 percent small business utilization goal by 158 percent.
"ECC measures the success of our small business program not only through subcontract awards, but through assistance programs designed to help our small businesses strengthen in capability and experience," commented Glenn Sweatt, CPCM, CCEP, Vice President, Contracts & Compliance. "Everyone benefits from a strong and healthy small business community—from the client to the small business to the local economy."
ECC also nominated two small businesses for SBA Small Business of the Year, including Richardson Electrical Company, a fourth generation family-owned, woman-owned small business founded in 1899. Richardson Electrical Company, who primarily performs electrical and construction solutions, was selected as a 2012 Small Business of the Year for Region 1.
"The team at Richardson Electrical has been outstanding. We were proud to nominate them for Small Business of the Year, and we're very excited that they were recognized," continued Mr. Sweatt. Richardson Electrical Company teamed with ECC to execute nearly $4 million in work on 16 task orders, including a $1.5 million subcontract on a wind turbine project for the Air Force at the Massachusetts Military Reservation.
Established in 1985, ECC is an employee-owned company that provides a complete range of services to support its clients' missions, including design-build, construction, engineering and design management, environmental remediation, energy, and military munitions response.
