Eaton Vance New York Municipal Income Trust Report of Earnings
BOSTON, April 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Eaton Vance New York Municipal Income Trust (NYSE Amex: EVY) (the "Trust"), a closed-end management investment company, today announced the earnings of the Trust for the three months ended February 28, 2010. The Trust's fiscal year ends on November 30, 2010.
For the three months ended February 28, 2010, the Trust had net investment income of $1,274,629 ($0.236 per common share). From this amount, the Trust paid dividends on preferred shares of $30,031 (equal to $0.006 for each common share), resulting in net investment income after the preferred dividends of $1,244,598, or $0.230 per common share. In comparison, for the three months ended February 28, 2009, the Trust had net investment income of $1,298,281 ($0.241 per common share). From this amount, the Trust paid dividends on preferred shares of $87,007 (equal to $0.016 for each common share), resulting in net investment income after the preferred dividends of $1,211,274, or $0.225 per common share.
Net realized and unrealized gains for the three months ended February 28, 2010 were $2,884,864 ($0.533 per common share). In comparison, net realized and unrealized gains for the three months ended February 28, 2009 were $7,632,855 ($1.419 per common share).
On February 28, 2010, net assets of the Trust applicable to common shares were $72,892,556. The net asset value per common share on February 28, 2010 was $13.46 based on 5,416,576 common shares outstanding. In comparison, on February 28, 2009, net assets of the Trust applicable to common shares were $58,128,048. The net asset value per common share on February 28, 2009 was $10.80 based on 5,380,418 common shares outstanding.
