Eaton Vance Massachusetts Municipal Bond Fund Report of Earnings
BOSTON, Sept. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Eaton Vance Massachusetts Municipal Bond Fund (NYSE Amex: MAB) (the "Fund"), a closed-end management investment company, today announced the earnings of the Fund for the three and nine-month periods ended June 30, 2011. The Fund's fiscal year ends on September 30, 2011.
For the three months ended June 30, 2011, the Fund had net investment income of $380,717 ($0.215 per common share). From this amount, the Fund paid dividends on preferred shares of $10,610 (equal to $0.006 for each common share), resulting in net investment income after the preferred dividends of $370,107, or $0.209 per common share. The Fund's net investment income for the nine months ended June 30, 2011 was $1,157,707 ($0.656 per common share, before deduction of the preferred share dividends totaling $0.022 per common share), resulting in net investment income after the preferred dividends of $0.634 per common share. In comparison, for the three months ended June 30, 2010, the Fund had net investment income of $391,770 ($0.222 per common share). From this amount, the Fund paid dividends on preferred shares of $14,905 (equal to $0.008 for each common share), resulting in net investment income after the preferred dividends of $376,865, or $0.214 per common share. The Fund's net investment income for the nine months ended June 30, 2010 was $1,167,101 ($0.663 per common share, before deduction of the preferred share dividends totaling $0.023 per common share), resulting in net investment income after the preferred dividends of $0.640 per common share.
Net realized and unrealized gains for the three months ended June 30, 2011 were $1,494,832 ($0.855 per common share). The Fund's net realized and unrealized losses for the nine months ended June 30, 2011 were $2,433,883 ($1.380 per common share). In comparison, net realized and unrealized gains for the three months ended June 30, 2010 were $23,711 ($0.014 per common share). The Fund's net realized and unrealized losses for the nine months ended June 30, 2010 were $1,452,495 ($0.825 per common share).
On June 30, 2011, net assets of the Fund applicable to common shares were $23,523,737. The net asset value per common share on June 30, 2011 was $13.33 based on 1,764,884 common shares outstanding. In comparison, on June 30, 2010, net assets of the Fund applicable to common shares were $24,384,334. The net asset value per common share on June 30, 2010 was $13.84 based on 1,761,408 common shares outstanding.
