REDMOND, Ore., Jan. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Eating Disorder Hope is honored to announce the Winter 2017 recipients of its respected Seal of Excellence. These recipients embody Eating Disorder Hope's message of hope and healing while contributing to the eating disorder community in unique and invaluable ways.
Through the Seal of Excellence initiative, Eating Disorder Hope proudly honors deserving parties from three categories each quarter, including Non-Profit Organizations, Eating Disorder Professionals, and Community Members. This interactive initiative relies on community participation through an anonymous online nomination process.
This quarter, Eating Disorder Hope recognizes Multi-Service Eating Disorders Association (MEDA) for supporting the eating disorder community through its many online and in-person resources. This New England-based non-profit offers clinical assessments, recovery support groups, individualized referrals, and more. MEDA regularly hosts community events, including an annual conference for eating disorder professionals, continuing to actively support those struggling and their loved ones.
Jennifer L. Gaudiani, MD, CEDS, is a true leader in the field of eating disorder treatment. Dr. Gaudiani remains one of the only internal medicine doctors in the nation classified as a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS), and uses her unique insight into the medical complications of eating disorders to support the physical and mental health of her clients. She founded Gaudiani Clinic in 2016, a unique concierge clinic that provides outpatient medical care for individuals with eating disorders.
Nikki DuBose is an author, speaker, and mental health activist who shares her own recovery story to encourage and inspire others. As a former model, Nikki is working to regulate the modeling industry through California bill AB-2539, which will also help models struggling with eating disorders receive support and access to treatment. Nikki recently released Washed Away: From Darkness to Light, a powerful memoir and inspiration for those struggling with eating disorders or addiction.
Eating Disorder Hope is honored to recognize these important voices in the eating disorder community while helping their stories and resources reach those in need of hope and healing. Additional Eating Disorder Hope initiatives include College Hope, Pro-Recovery Movement, and Hope Club for Professionals.
Nominations are now being accepted for Spring 2017 recipients, to be announced April 17, 2017. Those interested in nominating a deserving Non-Profit Organization, Eating Disorder Professional, or Community Member can visit the Seal of Excellence landing page for more information.
