Easy Gardener Endorses 'Weed Out Hate' Initiative
Lawn and Garden manufacturer voices support for grass roots coalition of business, government and education groups seeking to change kids' attitudes through gardening.
CHICAGO, Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Dick Grandy, CEO of Easy Gardener, Inc., today announced his official endorsement of the "Weed Out Hate" initiative. Established by author and businessman Marc Daniels, the project is busily sowing the seeds of a coalition of business, government and education groups calling for gardening pedagogy and social action in the United States and abroad.
Easy Gardener, a leader in the lawn and garden industry, markets such popular brands as WeedBlock® landscape fabrics, Jobe's® Organics Fertilizer products, and Ross® Root Feeders and fertilizers. According to Grandy, "We believe that 'Weed Out Hate's' community outreach efforts can play a vital role in inspiring the children of today to become the gardeners of tomorrow." He continued, "Our long time association with Marc Daniels leads us to believe that his campaign will transform the educational landscape by associating gardening with positive social change." Said Daniels, "With the support of folks like Dick Grandy and Easy Gardener, we're on our way to inspiring healthy, prejudice-free attitudes on the part of children and nature lovers everywhere."
The Weed Out Hate Initiative advocates for kids to extract the "weed seeds of hate" through gardening projects. Additionally, the coalition asks business and government leaders to do the same. In his August 16th visit to the Lincoln Home National Historic site in Springfield, IL, Daniels read supporting proclamations from the cities of Des Moines, IA, and Springfield, MO, announcing August 28th as "Weed Out Hate" Day in commemoration of Martin Luther King's historic 1963 "I have a dream" speech.
Daniels added, "We appreciate that Easy Gardener was the first lawn and garden company to back our efforts; I'm sure that our dream for a hate-less, weed-free world will soon inspire others to join us."
