CHICAGO, March 12, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Easterseals, the indispensable resource for individuals and families facing disability, today announced the appointment of a new board member to its National Board of Directors. Karl W. Armstrong joins a long list of established volunteer leaders in hopes of changing the way the world defines and views disabilities with Easterseals.
Armstrong, Appeals Officer, State of Nevada, Department of Administration: Hearings Division, brings years of experience and leadership in advancing justice, particularly as an advocate for people and families with disability.
"Karl has made a positive difference in the lives of so many people living with disabilities for years," said Angela F. Williams, President and CEO, Easterseals. "His years of management, experience, and dedication, as an attorney and as an Easterseals champion at the local level, will make him an effective and valuable addition to our National Board of Directors—carrying on a strong legacy of Easterseals volunteers."
Armstrong joined Easterseals Nevada's Board of Directors in 2008 and, in 2009, became its Chairman, serving in that capacity until 2013. Prior to his service at Easterseals Nevada, Armstrong also was on boards at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada and the Boy Scouts of America.
"I am looking forward to working with the Easterseals National Board of Directors and its staff leadership to ensure we continue to provide services and resources to millions of individuals and families for many more years to come." said Armstrong.
Armstrong, a Las Vegas resident, is married to Shondra Summers-Armstrong. The couple has three children, Brandon Summers (30), Dexter Summers (29) and Kieran Armstrong (16).
