Eastern Virginia Bankshares, Inc. Announces Receipt of Regulatory Approvals for Acquisition of Virginia Company Bank
TAPPAHANNOCK, Va., Oct. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Eastern Virginia Bankshares, Inc. (NASDAQ: EVBS) (the "Company"), the one bank holding company of EVB, Tappahannock, Virginia, today announced that it has received regulatory approval from the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and from the Virginia State Corporation Commission for the Company's acquisition of Virginia Company Bank, Newport News, Virginia ("VCB"), pursuant to a merger (the "Merger") of VCB with and into EVB with EVB surviving. Subject to the approval of VCB's shareholders of the Agreement and Plan of Reorganization among the Company, EVB and VCB and the satisfaction of other customary closing conditions, the Merger is expected to be completed in mid-November 2014.
