ROCHESTER, N.Y., June 1, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Easter Seals New York will host its 6th Annual Walk With Me Rochester event at Sahlen's Stadium on June 2nd. Easter Seals New York is very excited to be partnering for the first time with Sahlen's Stadium and Rochester's professional soccer team, the Rhinos, to help make our signature fundraiser a day to remember! The event begins with registration at 2:30 p.m. followed by the walk starting at 4:00 p.m. In addition to the walk, participants will be invited to partake in delicious refreshments and fun activities, including bounce houses, craft tables, and a chance to meet Rochester Rhinos soccer players. All participants will also have an opportunity to meet our Walk With Me Ambassadors who are local adults and children with a disability or special need who benefit from Easter Seals New York services.
CVS Caremark is the national premier sponsor, Century 21 is the national founding sponsor, and Amway and MassMutual are the regional sponsors for Easter Seals New York Walk With Me Rochester. In-kind donations include Sahlen's Hot Dogs, who are generously providing over 350 hot dogs for hungry walkers to enjoy!
"The support we have received for this event is truly overwhelming," said John C. Hayes, Chairman of the Western Regional Board for Easter Seals New York. "We're so excited to be able to partner with a new friend in the community, the Rochester Rhinos, and to be able to bring even more people together for a fantastic cause."
The walk supports four Individual Residential Alternatives, which are living communities for adults with disabilities and other special needs, as well as a Diagnostic and Treatment Center, and The Kessler Center: an innovative and comprehensive residential and educational program for children and young adults with disabilities or special needs. The commitment of the community towards Walk With Me Rochester has been truly inspiring, and their efforts promise to make the walk a very special day full of hope, fun, and encouragement.
"The walk is our signature event for a reason," explained John W. McGrath, MPA, Executive Director of Advancement for Easter Seals New York. "It is always a really special day for all who attend, and is a beautiful opportunity to make a difference for children and adults with disabilities or special needs."
