Monday, November 21st, 2011, 4:00 p.m. at Project Discovery, 88 East Main Street, Port Jervis, NY 12771
NEW YORK, Nov. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Easter Seals New York will host its annual Thanksgiving Holiday Outreach on Monday, November 21st, at the Project Discovery Child Development Center in Port Jervis, New York. Beginning at 4:00 p.m., families and individuals can line up to receive turkeys, assorted Thanksgiving trimmings, winter clothing, housewares, and other basic essentials needed in Port Jervis.
"Due to the generous donations to Easter Seals New York's Hunger Initiative, we are able to help give the Port Jervis citizens in need a warmer, happier Thanksgiving holiday," says Easter Seals New York Vice President of Major Gifts & Planned Giving, Hayrim Byun.
In 2010, around 800 children and families came out to the Thanksgiving Outreach to secure a warm turkey meal. When many local families struggle to make ends meet, Easter Seals New York's Community Outreach Program offers monthly essentials such as food and clothing, as well as a conduit for accessing public health and social services for the community. In 2011, Outreach served over 6,500 people and distributed approximately 65,000 pounds of food.
"The Thanksgiving Outreach in Port Jervis is a wonderful opportunity to see directly how one's contributions truly help those in need," commented Edward Vicinanza, Chairman of the Hudson Valley Regional Board. "What better way to begin the holiday season than by making it a warmer one for those New Yorkers who are less fortunate?"
