Easter Seals Houston Introduces BridgingApps™
BridgingApps™ and Insignio: "New Name – More Powerful Help"
HOUSTON, April 5, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Easter Seals Greater Houston is proud to announce that it has changed the name of SNApps4Kids to BridgingApps™ to more accurately reflect the program's services. BridgingApps™ is a community of Easter Seals Houston staff, parents, therapists, doctors and teachers who share information about how they are using mobile devices like iPads and Androids to help people with disabilities. Co-founders Cristen Reat and Sami Rahman launched an app review system focused on skills -- not age, diagnosis or development level. As the effort grew, "The project name did not reflect that we were helping people of all ages all around the world to choose apps that will help improve skills and enhance the lives of people of all ages with disabilities," said Reat.
Elise Hough, CEO of Easter Seals Houston said "We are also proud to introduce Insignio which was made possible with the support of Joel Trammell, the CEO of CacheIQ." The remarkable custom-built tool Insignio was developed to help people find the right app for their needs from among the 500,000 available in the market. "Working in the technology field and as the parent of a child with a disability, I have seen first-hand the power of technology to improve lives," says Trammell. "Insignio offers a powerful mechanism for searching apps and lists, saving searches and sharing lists, to comment and rate apps, and to be directed to Android Market and iTunes stores to purchase apps," says Rahman who created the concept for Insignio.
