East To Meet West Again At Historic 2016 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
NEW YORK, Nov. 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The rich ethical diversity and spectacular scenery of Kunming, China will be in the spotlight on November 26th as part of the 89th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade presented to millions around the world.
The media got an exclusive preview of the Kunming float, "The Stone Forest of Kunming, China - A Natural Wonder in the World" at the recent Macy's Studio Open Day. The float is being presented by Macy's and the Sino-American Friendship Association, in association with Kunming, China and the Stone Forest Region of Kunming.
"We believe that Kunming float's presence will showcase the uniqueness and astonishing sceneries of Kunming to the Western audience," said Li Li, Executive Vice President of Sino-American Friendship Association. "Kunming celebrates this American holiday and invites everyone to visit Kunming, the city of a perfect blend of nature and humanity. Also, there will be traditional Chinese performances around the float by both Chinese and American performers that celebrating the friendship and mutual understanding between people of China and the US during the parade."
The UNESCO World Natural Heritage site Stone Forest, as known as "God's miniascape" and the "Sculpture Museum of Nature", formed 270 million years ago, will be displayed on the float. Besides the Stone Forest, there will be other Chinese elements around the float that showcase the culture of China and present the Chinese image to the audience.
Kunming is the capital and largest city in the Yunnan Province in Southwest China. It is filled with natural wonders and eternal springs and is constantly warm, which results in flowers blooming all year.
