East Coast Appliance Announces Major Expansion In Hampton Roads And Northern Virginia

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Dec. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- East Coast Appliance, Virginia's largest retailer of household appliances has announced its largest expansion in more than ten years. The expansion will provide additional sales and warehousing space in Hampton Roads and fuel the company's initial push into the Northern Virginia market. 

East Coast has acquired the 45,000 square-foot Toys R Us property on N. Military Highway in Norfolk. The company will add 40,000 additional square feet of space on the 4 ½ acre site.  The Military Highway location will serve as an East Coast Appliance Superstore and corporate headquarters as well as a warehouse and distribution center to better serve the Hampton Roads region.  East Coast Appliance owner Rob Nicholson says the new location, at over 80,000 square feet, will be the largest retail store of its kind on the East Coast.

East Coast Appliance is also setting its sights on other Virginia markets with the purchase of the 30,000 square-foot Toy R Us retail store located at Central Park in Fredericksburg. Nicholson sees Northern Virginia as an opportunity for an aggressive discount appliance retailer.
