EarthLink Launches New FlexCloud Hosting Service, Designed to Address Server Sprawl
ATLANTA, Dec. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- EarthLink, Inc. (NASDAQ: ELNK), a leading IT and communications provider, today announced the launch of its new FlexCloud Hosting service to help businesses create secure IT environments to optimize server utilization. FlexCloud Hosting enables an organization to track and manage computing utilization across business units within a single IT environment, significantly reducing the cost of server sprawl by pooling resources.
EarthLink FlexCloud Hosting addresses the increasing challenge of procuring and managing IT infrastructure while still accommodating the diverse needs of multiple business units. Units can control their applications via the easy-to-use customer portal while the businesses' IT team maintains complete control and management via the Administrator portal.
FlexCloud Hosting supports business continuity with data protection, which provides full weekly backups and daily incremental backups to safeguard data. A Disaster Recovery option mirrors data in a second EarthLink data center for rapid recovery of the full environment to provide higher levels of business continuity protection.
In addition, FlexCloud Hosting helps businesses meet industry security compliance, with a Data Center Firewall that provides intrusion prevention with reporting and enables businesses to create customized firewall rules for enhanced security. Clients can create both public and private virtual environments for physical and logical separation with private MPLS or VPN architecture. Managed services also are available to help offload the routine management and maintenance of the virtual machines.
FlexCloud Hosting is designed with N+1 redundancy in a self-healing cloud architecture, automatic server failover, high-availability SAN storage, hosting in geographically diverse SSAE 16 SOC2 certified data centers, on a nationwide private MPLS network.
"Many businesses do not get much individualized attention from their IT services provider, and what differentiates EarthLink is our consultative approach. With FlexCloud Hosting, our Cloud Solutions Engineers offer clients an assessment that helps calculate the baseline compute capacity required to achieve a cost-effective solution, with the ability to burst when additional resources are required," said Michael D. Toplisek, EarthLink Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "With FlexCloud, business units can track their respective computing resources to minimize underutilization, and additional resources are always available on demand. Tapping EarthLink's expertise is like having additional IT staff in your back pocket to formulate the best go-forward strategy."
EarthLink FlexCloud Hosting is powered by Virtustream XStream™, and the company's next generation Cloud infrastructure is powered by Cisco UCS server hardware and Cisco gigabit networking equipment in SSAE 16 SOC2 certified data centers. Click here to learn more.
