SAN JUAN BAUTISTA, Calif., Nov. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Earthbound Farm, a pioneering organic food company and the nation's leading grower of organic produce, today announced what the results of its Salad Sign quiz reveal about people who gravitate to organic food. Perhaps not surprising, Nurturers dominated the results, accounting for 56.4% of the quiz-taking population. Nationally, additional results showed 19.7% Explorers, 13.1% Champions and 10.8% Innovators.
As part of its 30th birthday activities this fall, Earthbound Farm invited people to take a personality quiz that celebrated the personality pillars ("Salad Signs") of its founders, farmers, employees and customers: Innovator, Champion, Nurturer and Explorer. With more than 20,000 quiz completions, Nurturers proved dominant in every region and almost every city, including New York and L.A. The highest percentage of Nurturers came from the Northeast and Midwest.
"The Salad Sign Quiz is really just for fun, but it's not surprising that so many people who are drawn to organic food are Nurturers. We make that choice in food because we care about the wellbeing of our families and friends and the planet," said Samantha Cabaluna, Vice President of Communications and Marketing, Earthbound Farm. "But I believe there's a little Champion, Innovator, Explorer and Nurturer in each of us."
In addition to prizes, quiz participants received a downloadable commemorative Salad Sign art card with a Salad-in-a-Jar recipe that corresponded with their Salad Sign:
- The Innovator: Farro Salad with Arugula Edamame & Tomato Vinaigrette
- The Champion: Power Summer Salad with Blue Cheese Vinaigrette
- The Nurturer: Roasted Beet Salad with Walnuts & Feta Cheese
- The Explorer: Soba Noodles with Peanut Dressing
From its humble beginnings as a 2½ -acre backyard garden in Carmel Valley, Calif., to becoming America's largest grower of organic produce, Earthbound Farm is a trailblazer in the organic food movement and the first company to successfully launch pre-washed salad packaged for retail sale in 1986.
