"Holcim is committed to minimizing our ecological footprint and recognizes biodiversity as a key element of our long term sustainability strategy. It is important for our organization to find partners who can enhance and support these efforts. Through our parent company, Holcim Ltd., we have already establisheda relationship with the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Today's partnership announcement is just another step in our journeyto enhance awareness of biodiversity, support conservation initiatives across Canada and educate youth about ourcommitment to protect biodiversity and work towards sustainable development," says Bill Galloway, Senior Vice President, Holcim Canada.
Earth Rangers and Holcim Canada will also work together to ensure the habitat rehabilitation work taking place at Holcim sites across Ontario and Quebec continues to be of the highest quality for migratory song birds and other species.
"We are very proud to be partnering with Holcim Canada on this important project to protect migratory song birds", says Peter Kendall, Executive Director, Earth Rangers. "Migratory song birds are among the most dramatically declining animals globally due to habitat loss. The only way to turn this decline around is by working together - children and families, non-profits and corporations. Holcim Canada understands this and has made a strong commitment to not only assist groups like Earth Rangers, but to also ensure that the restoration work on their properties enhances local biodiversity".
