Analyst Update: Financial Results

U.S. stocks closed mixed on Tuesday as investors remained vigil over tech earnings and the Federal Reserve's concluding statement on Wednesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 0.40%, to close the day at 18,110.14, and the S&P 500 gained 0.28%, to 2,114.76. However, the NASDAQ Composite was down 0.10%, to finish the session at 5,055.42. European stocks tumbled on Tuesday amid concerns over Federal Reserve's meeting outcome. Germany's DAX 30 fell 1.89%, France's CAC 40 lost 1.81%, and London's FTSE 100 ended 1.03% lower on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Asian stock markets mostly closed lower on Tuesday. The Shanghai Composite Index and Australia's S&P ASX both fell on Tuesday, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was flat.
Healthways, on April 23, 2015, announced its first quarter 2015 financial results. Revenues were $189.9 million for the quarter, up 7.4% YoY. Despite rise in revenue, the Company reported a net loss of $2.9 million, or $0.08 per share in Q1, albeit better than the net loss of $9.6 million, or $0.27 per share, in Q1 2014.
eHealth reported in first quarter 2015 results on April 24, 2015. Revenue for Q1 was $61.3 million, an increase of 20% YoY. Commission and Medicare related revenues were up by 27% and 108% to $57.8 million and $29.6 million, respectively, in Q1 2015.
On April 23, 2015, Marketo, a leading provider of the marketing software and solutions, announced its Q1 2015 results. First quarter 2005 revenue jumped by 42% YoY to $46.0 million, while deferred revenue was $66.9 million in Q1, up 47% YoY.
IMS Health, on April 24, 2015, announced results for Q1 2015 (ended March 31, 2015). Revenue for Q1 2015 was $632 million, up 7.0% YoY on a constant currency basis. However, on a reported basis, revenue was down 2.0% owing to the strong dollar. The Company's strong revenue (constant basis) was attributed to 12.7% increase in technology services revenue.
Microsemi Corporation (Microsemi), on April 23, 2015, reported unaudited results for its second quarter of fiscal year 2015 ended March 29, 2015. Net sales were reported at $296.2 million, up 3.2% YoY. Gross margin on GAAP basis improved 530 basis points from 51.8% reported in the second quarter of 2014.
