On June 10, 2014, Francesca's Holdings Corp. (Francesca's) reported its Q1 FY 2014 financial results (period ended May 3, 2014). Q1 FY 2014 net sales increased 8.1% YoY to $85.4 million - the increase was mainly driven by 62 new boutique openings during the quarter. Net income stood at $8.6 million or $0.20 per diluted share, compared with $10.9 million or $0.24 per diluted share in Q1 FY 2013. Francesca's also reported that it expects net sales for Q2 FY 2014 to be between $98 million to $103 million. The Company also plans to open 16 new boutiques during this quarter. The Gap Inc. Analyst Notes
On June 7, 2014, The Gap Inc. (Gap) announced that it is teaming up with USAID to invest in the social and economic growth of Burma. The Company will be producing its products in 2 factories in Rangoon, making it the first American retailer to enter the Burma market. Gap will also team up with CARE International in Burma to deliver its award-winning women's advancement program, P.A.C.E. (Personal Advancement & Career Enhancement), in the factories in which it does business by the end of 2014, and in select communities where CARE is involved.
