First Solar, Inc. Analyst Notes
On May 6, 2014, First Solar, Inc. (First Solar) announced financial results for Q1 2014. The Company reported net sales of $950.2 million, up 25.8% YoY. Net income during the quarter increased to $112.0 million, or $1.10 per diluted share, from $59.1 million, or $0.66 per diluted share, in Q1 2013. Analysts had expected the Company to report earnings per share of $0.56 on revenues of $837.9 million for Q1 2014, according to the consensus estimates from Reuters. "We delivered strong earnings in the first quarter and are increasing our financial guidance for the year based on these results," said Jim Hughes, CEO of First Solar. First Solar now expects its full-year 2014 diluted EPS to be in the range of $2.40 to $2.80, compared to prior guidance of $2.20 to $2.60. On May 6, 2014, the stock closed at $67.45, up 1.42%. SanDisk Corporation Analyst Notes
On April 30, 2014, SanDisk Corporation (SanDisk) announced the Optimus MAX Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) solid state drive (SSD) -- the industry's first 4TB1 SAS SSD. According to Sandisk, Optimus MAX SSD is the first true replacement for legacy mission-critical data center SAS Hard Disk Drives (HDDs), as its capacity achieves a capacity point that far outpaces today's highest-capacity 2.5" 10K and 15K rpm SAS HDDs. Sandisk stated that Optimus MAX SSD delivers SAS performance and functionality at a revolutionary price point which was earlier only available in SATA-based SSDs. John Scaramuzzo, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Enterprise Storage Solutions, SanDisk, said, "The Optimus MAX eliminates the need for compromises. On May 6, 2014, Cree Inc. (Cree) announced the availability expansion of Series Cree LED Bulb across The Home Depot stores nationwide. According to the Company, the TW Series Cree LED Bulb produces an extraordinary Color Rendering Index (CRI) of 93, and displays true and natural colors which are idyllic for use in kitchens, bathrooms and closets, where color quality matters most. The Company informed that the TW Series Cree LED Bulbs use 78% less energy and endures 25 times longer than ordinary light bulbs.
