Connecting Michigan for Health is an event dedicated to advancing electronic health information sharing to enable healthcare delivery and payment transformation. Speakers and attendees convene from around Michigan and across the U.S. to share major industry directions, developments and opportunities to make healthcare transformation a reality. The growing event hosted more than 400 attendees in 2015.
The theme of this year's conference is "Constructing the Future of Health Information Sharing: Emerging Patterns for Innovation, Health Reform and Quality Improvement."
The June event places special emphasis on progress in health information technology adoption, harnessing new data sharing capabilities, aligning quality improvement efforts, navigating the evolution of a learning health system, incorporating community and social determinants of health, and leveraging advances in clinical research to foster greater person-centered care.
The conference agenda has been designed to create an environment for attendees to interact, learn from, and network with influential health information technology professionals, policy makers, clinicians, health care leaders, members of the state government, and the vendor community.
Highlights include:
- State- and nationally-recognized speakers sharing lessons learned and best practices on topics such as next generation care coordination, quality measurement, payment reform, interoperability standards, privacy, telemedicine and other topics of interest in healthcare transformation
- Updates and awareness on national programs such as the State Innovation Model and other coming developments at state and national levels
- Special evening receptions on Wednesday and Thursday along with multiple networking opportunities during meals, coffee breaks, vendor display time, and post-panel discussions designed to allow attendees to engage with industry thought leaders and colleagues who are facing related challenges and working to achieve similar goals in the country's leading states
- Educational workshops focused on industry hot topics: one on use of the rapidly advancing Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR – pronounced 'fire') standard and another on emerging approaches to quality improvement in ways that minimize workflow burdens for physicians, health plans and new payment organizations such as Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs)
