Dwight D. Opperman, Iconic Figure In The Legal Community And Noted Philanthropist, Passes Away At Home
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., June 14, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Dwight D. Opperman, former Chairman of West Publishing Company and creator of WestLaw, iconic figure in the legal community and noted philanthropist, died just past midnight on June 13, 2013 at his home in Bel Air, California, after a five-month battle with liver cancer. Mr. Opperman was just two weeks shy of his 90th birthday but was indeed perpetually young in spirit, attitude and accomplishment. He is survived by his wife, Julie Chrystyn Opperman, whom he credits as the source of his greatest happiness. He lost his first wife, Jenice, to cancer and has two sons from that marriage, Vance and Fane Opperman. Funeral services will be held on June 22nd at Forest Lawn in Glendale, California. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy will deliver the eulogy.
