DWA Healthcare Communications Group Disbands CME Enterprise and Creates a New Medical Science and Education Division

CARMEL, Ind., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Deborah Wood, President and CEO of DWA Healthcare Communications Group, has announced the creation of a new corporate division as a result of the merger with CME Enterprise. Consequently, CME Enterprise has withdrawn from the ACCME as an accredited provider of certified CME effective December 31, 2010, but, through this new division, will continue serving as an educational partner to support the CME mission. The creation of this new division is in response to emerging needs within the evolving healthcare industry. 

The Medical Science and Education Division (MSED) will better integrate science, adult learning techniques, curriculum design, and professional and patient education to accomplish our clients' goals," Ms. Wood said. "It's a holistic approach to medical education, from peer to patient." Additionally, MSED will offer broad reach, collaboration, and partnership with national medical societies. "The convergence of medical science and education is the bedrock of creating and delivering evidence-based medical information to improve patient health and safety. Our new division will place our company as the leading learning organization among our peers," Bruce Bellande, PhD, Chief Education Officer of MSED, said.

This new division will include many of the staff of the former CME Enterprise. It will develop needs-based, learner-centered educational interventions for medical and scientific professionals and associations, academic health science centers, and pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies. The division will be led by a Chief Medical Officer (MD), Chief Education Officer (PhD in Adult Learning) and team of tenured medical education designers including three PhDs, a Masters in Public Health, and a Masters of Science in Nursing. In addition, the team includes two librarians with Master of Library Science degrees as well as other specialty team members focused on partnerships with professional medical societies, academic health science centers, teaching hospitals, state organizations, and other partner organizations.
