Dutch Startup AxonIQ Raises Seed Funding From Volta Ventures
AMSTERDAM, October 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --
AxonIQ, an Amsterdam-based provider of a software platform for event-based microservices systems, announced today the raising of a substantial seed investment from Volta Ventures. According to Jeroen Speekenbrink, CEO and co-founder, the company raised the investment to grow its product offering. This includes hiring more developers, broadening marketing efforts, and expanding internationally.
AxonIQ's roots already go back several years to when the open source Axon Framework was initiated. In the Java world, the Axon Framework is a popular choice for implementing event-driven microservices architectures, as it reduces the complexity of application development so that developers can spend more time creating business value. It has reached a sufficient level of maturity and stability with many sizeable projects already in production globally. The AxonIQ Event Store, a high performance system for storing events, is set to be the first enterprise offering from the AxonIQ team.
As projects built using the open-source Axon Framework have evolved, the lack of adequate tooling to efficiently monitor and manage large scale event-driven systems has become apparent. "AxonIQ provides a seamless evolution of applications built with Axon Framework, from initial implementation to large-scale microservices architecture," says Allard Buijze, founder and CTO. "The AxonIQ platform allows organizations to focus on the business features and not worry about the technical implications of running at scale." A wide range of organizations in a number of fast-paced and demanding sectors are already using Axon Framework. These range from startups to large corporations, such as Barclays, Toyota and PromonTech.
According to Volta Ventures, the well-balanced team, unique product and services offering, in conjunction with a well-defined business proposition are the primary reasons for investing. "We've been impressed with the clear vision and straight-forward execution plan" says Sander Vonk, partner at Volta Ventures. "AxonIQ starts with a very solid base of users and an experienced team of experts who are helping to fine-tune the architecture of data-intensive systems. This funding will allow AxonIQ to provide their unique tooling and professional support to scale their customers' businesses."
