MIAMI, Oct. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Science depends on those who have no fear of the unknown. In this spirit of exploration, Discovery en Espanol presents a special programming event that delves into stories of inexplicable phenomena, introduces controversial historical figures and analyzes cases with no apparent explanation. This weeklong, brain-bending event is hosted by Mexican actor Luis Felipe Tovar, beginning Monday, October 28 at 9PM E/P.

ENIGMA WEEK presents three new series: El lado oscuro de la ciencia, Prohibido and Mi cuerpo, mi desafio.
In addition to hosting ENIGMA WEEK, Luis Felipe Tovar also serves as the narrator for the premiering series El lado oscuro de la ciencia, which takes a look at what happens when science goes too far. The program unearths the secret files of controversial scientific studies ranging from experimental lobotomies to questionable CIA research. In each of its seven episodes, the series ventures into the obscure laboratories that have produced some of the most sinister scientific practices of all time, including the experiments of Egas Moniz, one of the first doctors to practice lobotomies; Robert Cornish, who claimed to have found a way to come back from the dead; and Dr. Jose Delgado, who tried to control the human brain electronically.
Also premiering during ENIGMA WEEK, Prohibido is a look at the world of subcultures and individuals who dare to defy social norms. In addition to uncovering such behaviors, this new production explores the possible psychological explanations, historical context and science behind them. The 12 episodes of Prohibido feature such oddities as a military training camp for zombies in Britain and a US street vendor who turns himself into a mummy.
Yet another new series, Mi cuerpo, mi desafio, relies on personal interviews and video clips to examine what happens inside the bodies of people with strange and mysterious afflictions. From a woman in Austin, Texas, with a rare condition that stops her from gaining weight to the first person to undergo a face transplant, Mi cuerpo, mi desafio takes an in-depth look at the lives of these extraordinary individuals.
The suspense continues with new episodes of Sala de emergencias: historias ineditas, which investigates seemingly inexplicable illnesses and reveals secrets that only a few doctors would dare to tell. Recounted by the patients themselves and the doctors who treated them, the popular Discovery en Espanol series tells the true stories of people with unusual ailments who turn up at hospital emergency rooms to seek a cure for their rare conditions.
ENIGMA WEEK on Discovery en Espanol shows that real science is often stranger and more fascinating than anything science fiction can dream up. Program schedules are as follows:
Mi cuerpo, mi desafio - (new series) - premiering Monday, October 28 at 9PM E/P
El lado oscuro de la ciencia - (new series) - premiering Tuesday, October 29 at 9PM E/P
